WHERE CAN OUR FOCUS AND EXPERTISE LEAD TO BETTER CARE?
CARE INNOVATION
OVERCOMING TAKES A LOT OF HEART AND MINDS.
Empowering older adults to live the life they choose requires tackling universal challenges in senior care and housing—challenges we happily accept. Innovation has always been at the core of our organization and continues to drive our view and response to the toughest truths we face, including those that directly impact the health and well-being of seniors in our care and across the nation.
SAFE, CLEAN & CARING
Meticulous care of our buildings and living spaces is an important part of caring for the people we serve. We are committed to maintaining a safe and healthy environment, and our trained and dedicated team members are working to make this happen every day.
STAY CONNECTED PROGRAM
Out of compassion during the early months of COVID-19, we developed a program to keep our residents engaged and connected with their loved ones. All while following recommended safety protocols in the best interest of our residents, patients, team members and the families of people we serve.
AWAKENINGS™ PROGRAM
In 2014, Ecumen won the Excellence in Dementia Care Award for its Awakenings™ program, which reduced the use of antipsychotic drugs on dementia residents in its communities by implementing non-pharmaceutical approaches to managing challenging behaviors associated with dementia.
ŌMCARE PARTNERSHIP & PILOT STUDY
To improve medication adherence, reduce costs, and assist caregivers, we partnered in 2020 with Ōmcare and Thrifty White Pharmacy to begin a pilot study at select Ecumen assisted living communities in Minnesota. The Ōmcare® Telemed System with two-way, interactive video is preloaded with pouched multi-dose medications per each individual’s prescription drug regimen.
THE ECUMEN STORE
Opened in 2011 in Mankato to better promote independence among the people we serve, The Ecumen Store has grown from a single retail location into an online source of high-quality products for managing medical conditions and supporting safe activity at home.
ELLI-Q PILOT PROGRAM
To promote social connectedness for the individuals and families we serve, we launched a pilot project in 2020 partially funded by a Live Well at Home Grant from the Minnesota Department of Human Services. The project featured 22 digital assistants called ElliQ, an AI robot designed specifically for older adults by Intuition Robotics to proactively engage companions over the course of a day.
