Ecumen honors Iola Stark, who is 103.

Born: Dec. 13, 1911 in Kensington, Minn.

Residence: Ecumen Bethany Community in Alexandria, Minn.                      

Hobbies/Interests: Writing letters, word search, cooking, baking, crafting, meeting new people and doing volunteer work.

Family: Married to Vergil for 10 years.  He died at age 35 and she raised their two children as a single mother.  She has 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. 

Occupation: Worked as a doctor’s assistant, telephone operator and dispatcher. 

Secrets to Longevity: One-a-day vitamins and enjoying life, including her job when she was working.

Interesting Facts: Loves to meet new people, visit with them and hear their stories.  She’s always coming up with something new to do and likes to stay busy.
