Living Ecumen’s Values: Amber Hernandez, Human Resources Specialist

Amber Hernandez is a people person – someone who genuinely wants to get to know everyone she works with and make them feel appreciated. 

Throughout August, Ecumen is celebrating its 10th Best Place to Work honor from the Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal by recognizing employees who live our values every day.

In her four years at Ecumen Seasons at Apple Valley, Amber Hernandez has been a Resident Assistant, a Resident Services Coordinator, and now our Human Resource Specialist.

Amber is a people person – someone who genuinely wants to get to know everyone she works with and make them feel appreciated. She approaches onboarding of new employees with enthusiasm and a highly personal touch.  If you’ve met Amber once, she will remember your name and anything you tell her about yourself and your family.

Amber is deeply committed to making sure staff members have what they need – including help with their jobs.  With her breadth of experience in resident care, she’s quick to pitch in wherever she’s needed, including filling in as an RA or taking a family on a tour. Plus, she’s there to help with resident events and parties, setting up and cleaning up afterward. She’s always flexible and willing to help.

To ensure our staff feel appreciated, Amber arranges regular events to honor and thank them, and she is amazing at remembering and recognizing key milestones in people’s lives. Likewise, with residents, she knows everyone by name. On weekends, you will often see her and her almost two-year-old daughter visiting residents and making them smile.
