Grand Village Nurse Awarded Scholarship from Minnesota Nursing Association

The Minnesota Directors of Nursing Administration Long Term Care (MN-DONA/LTC) has awarded a $500 scholarship to Linsey Stocco, RN, a nurse at Ecumen-managed Grand Village in Grand Rapids, Minn.

The Minnesota Directors of Nursing Administration Long Term Care (MN-DONA/LTC) has awarded a $500 scholarship to Linsey Stocco, RN, a nurse at Ecumen-managed Grand Village in Grand Rapids, Minn.

At MN-DONA’s Annual Fall Conference on Oct. 7, Stocco received the scholarship to continue her nursing education. She is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing at Bemidji State University.

Stocco began working at Grand Village in 2011 as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) while still in high school.  She has continued to work part-time at Grand Village for the past four years as she advanced her nursing training. She graduated from Itasca Community College in 2013 with a Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) degree, then earned her Registered Nursing (RN) degree at Hibbing Community College in May of 2015.

“This is such a well-deserved scholarship,” said Roberta Alzen, RN, the Director of Nursing at Grand Village.  “Linsey has worked at Grand Village nights, weekends, summers and holidays while she goes to school.  She loves long-term care nursing and has been diligent about continuing her education.  She is a caring and committed long-term care nurse who is so deserving of this scholarship award.”
