Cheryl Dinsmore, Life Enhancement Supervisor at Ecumen Meadows of Worthington, Minn., currently is serving as president of the Minnesota Statewide Activity Professionals (MN SWAP).

The more than 800-member organization serves those who work in activity, leisure and recreation programs for the elderly. It has been providing education, mutual support and idea sharing among activity professionals for the past 34 years.

“MN SWAP offers and promotes meaningful and innovative programs as well as networking opportunities specifically for activity professionals,” Dinsmore said. Members come from a variety of settings such as Long-Term Care, Assisted Living, Adult Day Programs, Group Homes, Memory Care and Retirement Communities.

Dinsmore presides over board meetings aiding in the ongoing mission of the organization.  Recently as part of her duties, she attended the National Activity Association of Professionals Conference in Denver, Colo.  MN SWAP also works with other professional groups, regulatory agencies and provider representatives to ensure the delivery of coordinated, client-oriented activity services.

Recently, MN SWAP held its spring seminar with 180 activity professionals in attendance.  The MN SWAP fall conference draws more than 400 activity professionals from around the state and is considered one of the top conferences in the nation for quality education and attendance, Dinsmore said.
