Today Ecumen Lakeshore is participating in The Longest Day team event to raise funds and awareness for the Alzheimer's Association® and welcoming the Duluth-area community to join its team.  WDIO-TV was on had to cover the event and gave this report.

The event runs today from sunrise-to-sunset to symbolize the long and challenging journey of those living with Alzheimer’s. The official day of the event is June 21, the day of the summer solstice, but Ecumen Lakeshore is starting early to avoid conflicts with Father’s Day and Grandma’s Marathon.

“We welcome the community to join us in honoring those with Alzheimer’s and their caregivers,” said Jena Evans, Marketing Manager at Ecumen Lakeshore.  “The Longest Day is all about coming together with passion and endurance to face the challenge of Alzheimer’s.”

Teams from around the world create their own experience as they fundraise and participate in an activity they love to honor those facing the disease and their caregivers.

Ecumen Lakeshore is hosting a day of puzzles, origami lessons, Wii games and trivia, along with snacks and a silent auction.  Funds raised at the event go to for the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association.

The event will run today from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m., at the Ecumen Lakeshore Cascade Plaza at 4002 London Road, Duluth.
