Ecumen honors Fern Ann Trierweiler, who is 100.

Born: April 20, 1917, in Platteville, Wisc.

Residence: Ecumen Seasons at Maplewood in Maplewood, Minn.                           

Hobbies/Interests: Fern says she has always been too busy working to pursue hobbies. She didn’t retire until she was 77 and would still be working if she could.

Family: Widow, married for 55 years. Two sons, 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Occupation: Worked for a St. Paul florist for more than 50 years and also worked with her husband refurbishing old houses, often taking her young sons to work with her.

Secrets of Longevity: Working hard and being light hearted.  Fern started working when she was very young and continued until age 77, often working weekends and holidays. Her bosses called her “Happy Go Lucky” because she always had a smile or a joke.

Interesting Facts: Traveled to all the United States on family vacations.
