All you ageists – and you know who you are – believe that older adults contribute little to the world. And you’re wrong.

After completing an extensive national survey, Stanford University research Anne Colby analyzed the data and concluded: “This uninspiring vision underestimates most older adults, who find many small ways to engage with their communities; care for their families, friends, neighbors and pets; contribute elements of compassion and civility to everyday life and volunteer at least sporadically.”

Colby says her data shows that “a purposeful life is accessible to people of all ages and from all backgrounds — even those facing serious life challenges.”  For more information on the study, click here.
