Our Mission, Vision and Values

Meet Kathryn Roberts and other Ecumen leaders

On behalf of our 4,000 dedicated team members, I welcome you to Ecumen.  Affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, we are one of the country's largest non-profit senior housing and aging services companies..

Our name comes from the word Ecumenical, which in turn is derived from the Greek word for home: "oikos." We are passionate advocates of active, vital, successful aging.   Our name ties directly to our mission:

       We create home for older adults wherever they choose to live.

Successful Aging: Providing Options Along This Journey Called Life
As human beings we desire options and the ability to live fully. Those desires don't change as one ages or one seeks out services such as assisted living. We want a strong sense of community.      

We want independence. We want continued, easy access to enriching entertainment, recreation, and learning opportunities. And we want the highest quality care when we need it. America is on the cusp of an unprecedented age wave. At Ecumen, we are not waiting for that transformation. We are innovating to ensure options and solutions now.
