Grow old along with me! The best is yet to be.
Robert Browning
The 1965 Minnesota Twins had some great stats, but look at the stats facing Minnesota. By 2020, Minnesota's population will be substantially older than it is today, which will have a major impact on every facet of our society - especially housing and services for older adults. Our window of opportunity in Minnesota and this country to create infrastructure and services that promote vital, successful aging is NOW.
- 1.3 Million Older Adults: Minnesotan's 65+ population will more than double by 2030, rising to nearly 1.3 million.
- Major Population Changes Ahead: The 50+ group will increase the most in Minnesota between now and 2030. The 65-69 age group is projected to rise by 135% between 2000 and 2030.

More Aging Boom Stats
- A Minnesota First: In 2020, for the first time in Minnesota history, older adults (65 & older) will outnumber children.
- Metro Area Aging: The 11-county metro area will account for 59% of the total increase of Minnesotans 65+ from between today and 2030.
- Median Age Rising: The median age of Minnesotans in 1920 was 25, in 2020 it will be 40.
- Oldest Residents: Traverse County in Southwestern Minnesota has the highest percentage of older adults with 26.2 percent of its residents over 65.
- Youngest Residents: Scott County has the lowest percentage of residents over age 65 at 6.2 percent.
- We're Living Longer: At age 65, a Minnesota woman can, on average, expect to live 20 more years, while a man will, on average, live 17 more years.
The Time to Prepare for Tomorrow is Today.
