Emmanuel event raises $44,000
The Emmanuel Foundation Charity Benefit 2012 was held at The Speakeasy Restaurant recently with some 200 people attending.
The event raised $44,000 to support Emmanuel’s “Healthy Life & Spirit” program expansion, as well as purchase additional Nu Step exercise bikes and large specialized beds.
Business owners from Detroit Lakes and surrounding communities are big supporters and return year after year to participate in sponsorships that range from a $300 Bronze Level to a $20,000 Diamond Level.
This year also marked an increase in cash donations as well as silent auction totals.
A people’s favorite is the “Wall of Wine” raffle that gives ticket holders an opportunity to win from four to 45 bottles of wine. This year was a sell out.
Those attending especially enjoyed a “Spa” like atmosphere. They sat surrounded by huge white ostrich feather centerpieces and rocks on each table that were engraved with spiritual words to reflect Emmanuel’s “Healthy Life & Spirit” theme.
The Speakeasy provided a healthy meal, which included mushroom-stuffed chicken over a bed of wild rice and garnished with micro carrots on the side. It was topped off with a vanilla yogurt covered with fresh blueberries.
The Heads & Tails game is always a hit and provides it’s own entertainment and allows a couple of people to walk off with some additional cash.
Individuals attending this event also love the musical entertainment that they can listen and dance to. This year featured the “Fat Cats” and the crowd danced until midnight.
“Our Emmanuel Foundation is extremely proud, honored and feel privileged that we are able to host this event year after year,” said Fund Development Coordinator Sandy Lia.
“We are grateful for the people in this community and surrounding communities that support this event year after year, and we are excited and looking forward to expanding our “Healthy Life & Spirit” programs — as well as purchasing Nu Step exercise bikes and large specialized beds.”
