Will You Live To Be 100? Get Tested.

What are your chances of making it to 100? Now there’s a test for that.

The science of predicting longevity is getting better.  We know with some certainty that centenarians are seldom obese, usually aren’t smokers and tend to handle stress well.

We also know the number of Americans age 100 and older is up by 44 percent — from about 50,000 in 2000 to 72,000 in 2014.  (In 1980, there were on 15,000.)

What are your chances of making it to 100? Now there’s a test for that.

The “Living to 100 Life Expectancy Calculator” was created by Thomas Perls, director of the New England Centenarian Study and a professor of medicine at Boston University. It involves 40 health, family history and lifestyle questions. To see how you stack up, go to www.livingto100.com.

And good luck on the test!
