Aging Services and Technology at Ecumen:Ecumen Appears Before the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging to Discuss Technology in Aging ServicesIn January 2008, Kathy Bakkenist, Ecumen chief operating officer and senior vice president of strategy and operations, and Honor Hacker, an Ecumen customer at Lakeview Commons in Maplewood, Minn., briefed members and staff of the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging about the role of technology in aging and aging services. Kathy serves as a commissioner on the Center for Aging Services Technologies (CAST), a collaboration of leading U.S. aging services companies, technology companies, research universities, and government representatives focused on helping accelerate bringing to the marketplace technologies that could transform the lives of older adults and those who care for them.
